Consumer Advisory Body

Explore the information below, and fill out the form to express your interest in joining our Warrigal Consumer Advisory Body.

Warrigal is not just an aged care provider; we are an award-winning, not-for-profit organisation and an essential part of our communities. Our mission is to serve older people, their families, and caregivers with a comprehensive range of top-quality services that include home care, respite services, residential aged care, and vibrant retirement living communities throughout the Illawarra, Southern Highlands, Queanbeyan and Canberra. Our vision is a ‘world where older people are known, loved, and connected’. We do this by creating inspiring communities and offering services so that older people can be independent, respected, happy and connected.

The Consumer Advisory Body is integral to our organisation as a mechanism of providing feedback on the quality of services being delivered. It provides valuable information to our governing body, the Board of Directors, and is central to decision-making and the implementation of continuous improvement activities. The Consumer Advisory Body was established in October 2023 and has been operating for just over one year and we continue into 2025.

We would like to invite you to join our Consumer Advisory Body for 2025. Please read our Consumer Advisory Body Information Sheet before completing the Expression of Interest form. If you have any questions or need assistance to complete the form over the phone, please contact Jacinta Wallace, Assistant Company Secretary at jwallace@warrigal.com.au or phone 0455 779 019.

Important Information

Who is a Consumer?

Consumers are Warrigal’s customers who use any type of Warrigal services, including home care, respite services, residential aged care, and retirement living communities. ‘Customers’ are either the individual themselves or their family, carers or representatives.

What would I do as part of the Consumer Advisory Body?

Warrigal welcomes you to bring your own experiences and views, and that of other customers, to participate in discussion and provide feedback on organisational trends and macro issues. In 2024, the Consumer Advisory Body has played a critical role in providing discussion and feedback to Warrigal’s governing body, the Board of Directors, on organisational strategy, food quality, and innovation. The Consumer Advisory Body is an important part of Warrigal’s structure to include consumers as a central part of decision-making processes regarding the care and services they receive.

There are issues I wish to provide feedback on. How can I influence the agenda of the Consumer Advisory Body?

Members have input into the CAB annual meeting calendar of agenda topics. These topics are macro issues at a sector or organisational level. If there is a specific issue regarding the service you are receiving, the Consumer Advisory Body may not be the most appropriate form to raise these issues. Membership of the CAB will not affect response to individual pieces of feedback or complaints. To provide feedback or complaint regarding a specific issue, please contact your residential home, home support service or village directly or visit our online Feedback Tool at Have Your Say.

What is expected of me as a member and how do I join?

Members will join the Warrigal Consumer Advisory Body for a one-year term with the possibility of an extension. All participation in the Consumer Advisory Body is entirely voluntary, no remuneration will be offered to participants.

Members are expected to actively participate in quarterly meetings for which there will be some preparation including reviewing materials. Meetings will be convened in a hybrid model of face to face and online.  Meetings are conducted over two locations, one in the Illawarra and one in Canberra, to provide better access for our customers living in these different locations. Warrigal staff will work with you to meet your needs to allow participation.

The Consumer Advisory Body meetings are held in a values led way to enable meaningful discussions. We welcome diversity, differing opinions and viewpoints as these provide rich discussion and innovative solutions.

To join the Consumer Advisory Body, please complete and submit the Expression of Interest Form found at the bottom of this page.
