Margaret King retires after 19 years of volunteering at Warrigal Albion Park Rail at the age of 91.
After 19 incredible years, we bid farewell to Margaret King, one of our long serving volunteers at our Albion Park Rail home.
For Margaret, retiring from volunteering at the age of 91 was a difficult decision, but her inspiring commitment and boundless energy has left a lasting legacy at Warrigal.
Reminiscing on her early days at Warrigal, Margaret shared memories of how volunteers rallied to together to support residents during renovations, saying “We’d pack up all their things, settle them into their new rooms, and once the renovations were complete, we’d move them back again”.
Over the 19 years, Margaret would volunteer at Albion Park Rail three days a week. Whether she was organising seasonal fashion parades, facilitating leisure and entertainment for residents and villagers, or working at the on-site café, Margaret took every opportunity to spread joy and laughter with those around her. Versatility and flexibility were always Margaret’s greatest strength, often helping with tailoring and alterations for resident’s clothes, or assisting with Christmas shopping, Margaret was always happy to help in any way she could.
“I’ve loved every minute of volunteering,” Margaret said, her warmth, positive attitude and infectious smile has been a shining light at Warrigal Albion Park Rail for the last 19 years.
As Margaret retires to dedicate more time to her growing family, we know she won’t be a stranger. Margaret will continue to make crocheted tea towels for the café to sell and plans on delivering chocolate goodies for Easter.
Margaret, your remarkable contributions to Warrigal Albion Park Rail will always be cherished and fondly remembered. From everyone at Warrigal Albion Park Rail and the wider Warrigal community, we give our heartfelt thanks for your 19 years of volunteer service.
