This month, Warrigal celebrated the outstanding work of their employees across NSW and the ACT with two special Service Award events. These events are held each year to acknowledge the time, effort and dedication that our employees devote to Warrigal, and their commitment to making a difference in the lives of older people. This year, we had employees being recognised for various milestones including 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service.

The celebrations kicked off with the Illawarra Service Awards held at the Shellharbour Civic Centre, which welcomed over 105 employees, families and fellow staff members from our Northern locations. Attendees enjoyed delicious snacks and treats, whilst they cheered on as our long-serving employees danced their way down the runway.

Warrigal CEO, Jenni Hutchins, joined by Chair of the Board, Wyn Janssen, and members of our Executive Team, congratulated recognised employees as they reached the front of the room.

In her address, Jenni reiterated the importance of recognising the work that our incredible staff do every day, not just the major moments.

“While today we celebrate specific milestones, please know that we see and value your dedication every single day – whether it’s going the extra mile for a resident, supporting a colleague through a tough shift, or finding new ways to bring joy to our community.”

She continued, “Thank you for being here, for empowering older people, for providing them with a space to age with dignity and choice. As we say – ‘You are the difference.’”

A special mention is deserved for our long-serving employee, Jacqueline, who was recognised at this event for 40 years of service with Warrigal, working at both our Warrigal Warilla and Warrigal Mt Warrigal care homes during her time. Thank you Jacqueline for your incredible efforts and outstanding commitment to older people in your community!

Last week, employees from our Southern Highlands locations were also recognised for their various long years of service, with a celebration at our Warrigal Queanbeyan Residential Care Home. The activities hall was transformed into a fun-filled space, with music, balloons and refreshments, and fellow employees and supporters cheered on as our Southern employees strutted their way down the runway.

Wyn Janssen, Chair of the Board, alongside Jenni and our Executive team, shared his gratitude for our employees in his address.

“We often talk about our vision: a world where older people are known, loved and connected. You don’t just talk about this vision, you live it. Whether it’s in the way you greet a resident each morning, support a family member through a difficult time, or work behind the scenes to keep our operations running smoothly, you exemplify our vision in everything you do.”

Each event brought with it a positive and exciting energy, with each venue buzzing with cheer, laughter, and smiling faces all around. To all our recognised employees, thank you for making Warrigal a welcoming, caring place for everyone who walks through our doors. Your longevity of service speaks volumes about your dedication and the positive culture you’ve helped build here at Warrigal.
