More Than a Café: The Heart of Our Warrigal Homes

Across Warrigal, we have over 30 café volunteers who play an important role in bringing vibrancy and life into our residential care homes.

National Volunteer Week

This National Volunteer Week (18 – 24 May 2026), we’re sharing inspiring stories about our outstanding Warrigal volunteers from across NSW and the ACT. Keep reading to learn more about today’s story – our Warrigal cafés, and the supportive social hub they offer within our residential care homes.
Bundanoon Cafe 10 Years
There is something special about the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, warm raisin toast and homemade treats drifting through our Warrigal homes. Behind every cup poured and every welcoming smile, is a dedicated team of volunteers helping create connection, comfort and community within our cafés.

Across Warrigal, we have over 30 café volunteers who play an important role in bringing vibrancy and life into our residential care homes. The cafés have become favourite gathering places where residents, families, visitors and staff come together to share conversations, celebrate milestones and enjoy meaningful moments together.
Bundanoon Cafe 10 Years
Entirely volunteer led, many of our cafés have become the social heart of the home. At Warrigal Bundanoon, volunteers recently celebrated 10 years of operation, with some volunteers having served in the café since the very beginning.

Our café volunteers do far more than serve coffee and homemade treats, they help raise funds that go directly back into enhancing the lives of residents across Warrigal.
Volunteer cafes

What makes these cafés truly special is not just the food or coffee, but the atmosphere created by volunteers who generously give their time each week. They provide friendship and a place where people feel connected and welcome.

Every sandwich made, coffee served and conversation shared helps create a world where older people feel known, loved and connected.
