Residents light up when they see Kathryn coming down the hall, and many wait eagerly for her next visit.
For over 30 years, Kathryn has been a cornerstone of care, compassion, and community at Warrigal Hughes. Whether she’s visiting with her beloved therapy dog team, assisting with church and memorial services, or simply sitting with residents for a chat, Kathryn’s calming and joyful presence is truly cherished by all.
Kathryn brings a wealth of life experience and warmth into every interaction, sharing stories from her time in the army, offering emotional and spiritual support, and helping meet the religious and cultural needs of residents. Her dedication doesn’t stop there; she supports staff during major events and always leads by example with kindness and integrity.

Residents light up when they see her coming down the hall, and many wait eagerly for her next visit. She has a unique gift for making distressed residents feel happy, safe, and valued – something that can’t be taught, only felt.
Kathryn’s service is a testament to the power of connection and care. Her decades of unwavering commitment make her a truly deserving recipient of the Norm Rowland Volunteer Award (Southern).
