I have a window that gives me a nice view to outside and the gardens, I love it here.

When Diana moved into her room at Warrigal Mt Warrigal two years ago from her home in Ulladulla, she knew she wanted to create a space that felt like her own.
When visiting her now, her room tells that story beautifully. Surrounded by her collection of knick-knacks, flowers, greenery and artwork, Diana has transformed her room into a warm and welcoming space that she shows off to visitors proudly.

With the help of her children, Diana has been able to decorate her room in a way that brings a bit of joy to her each day. She says it makes her feel at home, and “it’s wonderful to wake up to a familiar area, and see all the colour.”
Though this comfort extends beyond her room, and when speaking of life at Warrigal Mt Warrigal she says “The staff here are wonderful, they’re very nice and are all lovely. I have a window that gives me a nice view to outside and the gardens, I love it here.”
When asked what she would say to someone considering moving into a Warrigal residential care home, Diana said “If you have the opportunity and you like the room – take it!”

At Warrigal, we encourage people moving into our residential aged care homes to make their room their own, whether it be with photos, decorations or something that brings a bit of their own home with them.
It’s a place to reflect your identity, your memories and your story, and simple additions can bring a lot of joy to each day. Feeling at home is essential to overall happiness and wellbeing, and when your room reflects who you are, it becomes a place where you can relax, feel safe, and feel a true sense of belonging.
Diana says while it keeps her busy with dusting – she wouldn’t have it any other way! Watch the video below to see Diana’s space for yourself.

I was living near the sea, and the beach there was absolute magic, just white sand. My cousins would play the guitar, and we would have a singsong.

The thing I love most about it is communicating and connecting with one another.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of all communities who also work and live on this land.
